Dre realizes Mr. Han is much more than a maintenance man, when he's revealed as a master of Kung Fu and Dre soon learns that Kung Fu is about self defense and peace, instead of violence and bloodshed.
A remake should add some element that the original didn't have. A different perspective of the story, different details of an event, or better technology. This movie offers nothing new except a change of faces and places. The story's the same, predictably so, and it didn't have the heart and soul the original had. Some could argue that the fighting scenes are better in this version, but the point in the original was, as Daniel-san said, not to fight, but to learn how not to fight. This version didn't have the same feel in the relationship between Han and Dre that Miyagi and Daniel had, and lacked many of the Miyagi-isms about life.
You'd do better to save your money and buy a copy of the original. Wax-on Wax-off.
